Virtual Worlds Association (VWA) Creation of the Virtual Worlds Association, a European alliance for useful, open, and human-centered virtual worlds

Immersion is proud to join the Virtual Worlds Association (VWA) as a founding member.

The VWA is the result of an agreement signed on June 3, 2025, in which more than twenty organizations from eight countries (Belgium, Spain, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, and Poland) committed to preparing the European partnership on virtual worlds with the European Commission as part of Horizon Europe.

Virtual worlds are becoming essential infrastructure for the future of Europe. Thanks to collaborative platforms, digital twins, XR, and interoperable environments, the association aims to:

Have a positive impact on business, society, and policy-making by making a tangible contribution to the realization of virtual worlds.
Energize, unite, and support European communities that develop the necessary technologies and content.
Stimulate world-class research for excellence and competitiveness in the fields of virtual worlds in Europe.
Promote the transfer of knowledge from academia to end users, through the commercial sector, by raising awareness of new business models and opportunities.
Contributing to a sustainable, ethical, and human-centered European future that combines the real and digital worlds.
