Missions

OmenXR, which stands for On-the-fly Multisensory Collaboration in Extended Reality, is a European research project focused on collaboration in extended reality. The project explores the on-the-fly reconstruction of real-world environments in a photorealistic and multisensory format, enabling local and remote users, teleoperated robots, and intelligent virtual agents to collaborate within the same environment.

The project will combine 3D reconstruction using Gaussian Splatting, artificial intelligence, spatial audio, haptic feedback, olfaction, and cloud-edge infrastructure. The technologies will be evaluated in the fields of cultural heritage, teleoperation in hazardous environments, and clinical stress management.

Immersion will lead the activities focused on the architecture and integration of the OmenXR solution. We will coordinate the integration into Unity of the various technologies for capture, reconstruction, multisensory rendering, and collaboration.

We will also be involved in the work dedicated to replicating and scaling up the solution, as well as in the project’s operational and innovation strategy.
