Explanations in this article.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why is situational awareness in our relationship to the world so important?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Situational awareness is expressed at three levels: perception of the environment, instant understanding of the situation, and projection of one\u2019s future status. It allows us to improve their performance and reduce the number of errors, which is essential, especially in a professional context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, there is a shared form when working collaboratively as a team. It is essential to work on a common basis! Each individual has their own situational awareness; they must remain attentive and communicate effectively with other members of their team so that everyone can share the three levels described above and develop relevant analyses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is a concept that is essential to know when designing Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), in order to offer users optimal situational awareness and avoid the effects that can inhibit it (Endsley\u2019s Demons&nbsp;<em>cf. Mica R. Endsley,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/assets.grenfelltowerinquiry.org.uk\/CWJ00000027__Towards%20a%20Theory%20of%20Situation%20Awareness%20in%20Dynamic%20Systems_%2C%20by%20Mica%20R.%20Endsley%2C%20The%20Journal%20of%20the%20Human%20Factors%20and%20Ergonomics%20Society%2C%201995%2C%2037%281%29%2C%2032-64..pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cToward a Theory of Situation Awareness in Dynamic Systems\u201d<\/a>, Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, 1995, 37(1), 32-64).<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>In what ways is human perception alone limited and why is it detrimental?<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Humans have many abilities but also have their limits. For example, from a physical point of view, vision is limited by the visible spectrum or the distribution of photoreceptors on the retina of the eye, and hearing is limited by the shape of the ear; from a mental point of view, attentional abilities and memory are also restricted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Perception, the fundamental foundation of situational awareness, can then be altered, thereby blocking the other levels (understanding and projection).
